Let’s face it, the music industry is nothing like it used to be even 10 years ago. Our belief is that from the top down no one knows how to right side up the industry. Truth be told we feel the fanbase is ever shrinking. With no real record stores, dissolving shelf space in the brick and mortar stores, deep declines in overall physical sales and  low influx of new loyal fans combined with piracy and theft, how does a once thriving industry continue to stand? Answer: The independent market.

While we do not have all the answers, the starving artist as well as the independent market is prosperous all the while sustaining growth and making the true artist realize the power of being independent. With the current status of the music industry in a downward spiral, the challenges of introducing a new artist into the business are greater than ever. And even though some think the playing field has been somewhat leveled with the internet and digital age, this could not be farther from the truth. As the industry continues to evolve and changes take place almost daily, the one constant is the striving artist who creates the music that drives the industry no matter what genre. Still, there is strength in numbers and for an artist to be complete a team of individuals is needed to succeed and to be taken seriously in the marketplace.

HIGHVOLMUSIC (HVM) will be the first to tell you to “DIY” because once you invoke a record company, publicist, booking agent and manager you are asking for those people to legitimately work for you. This ultimately means a time-money investment in the artist and/or project with some kind of a return back on that investment. This means less of a financial reward to the artist. You also have to be aware that there is a very high risk that things will not work out the way you think they should.

Because of the high risk low return we at HIGHVOLMUSIC (HVM) require that any artist we sign must clearly understand how it all works as well as be willing to support the project they bring in house. What does this mean? It means touring to support the project, assistance in marketing, advertising, promotion, working in tandem with HIGHVOLMUSIC (HVM) on most aspects of the project plan and most of all have the passion for the music without “money” being the ultimate motivational objective. If money is your motivator we can’t help you.

HIGHVOLMUSIC (HVM) will only sign artists who have the drive and determination to help build their own career. We form a partnership and help design a business plan before any paperwork might be signed. We do not work with those that do not have a grip on reality, or know the current status of things related to the music industry. More importantly we despise artists who sit back and expect everyone else to make their dreams happen at the expense of our checkbook. We set expectations and then manage them accordingly. It is a full team effort and requires the participation of everyone involved. This is a tough business and there are more failures than successes but it is one of the most fun and rewarding businesses when things go according to plan even if just a little bit.

Before contact HIGHVOLMUSIC (HVM) ask yourself  and/or band the following questions:

Can you tour? Not just be a weekend warrior

Are you prepared to invest in yourself or band?

Is your life setup to be a musician? i.e. tour, be away from home, little overhead and personal responsibilities

Are you prepared to do the hard work to achieve minimal success if any?

What are your expectations from HIGHVOLMUSIC (HVM) and working with us?

Once we receive your email we will review what you have submitted. If we like what we see someone will respond asking you more questions and to submit additional information. Please note everything you send in should be professionally crafted. If not, its automatically deleted. Do not ask ask us to check out your Facebook, Myspace or anything else. Be patient you will hear back if we are interested and if we are not.
