Real Talk With G-Love and Kenny “The Rocker” of Florida Man Radio recently talked with veteran rocker Ron Keel. Ron talks to the Florida Man duo about the new record ‘South X South Dakota’ a southern rock salute to some of the greatest bands from the southern rock genre. From that first Steeler album to recent releases like ‘South X South Dakota’ and ‘Fight Like A Band’. Ron Keel’s 35-year career in entertainment has taken him from the concrete jungles of arena rock to the dirt roads of country music. Along the way, he has sold millions of albums and toured the world as both a heavy metal screamer (KEEL, Steeler, and a brief encounter with Black Sabbath) and a southern rock/outlaw country artist (with dozens of songs in major films and TV shows). For the past two decades, the Metal Cowboy has combined both genres, establishing a style and a persona which captures the heart and personality of this self-proclaimed rock n’ roll outlaw.
During recording sessions for their 2019 original album release Fight Like A Band’, the Ron Keel Band warmed up each day by ripping through some of their favorite southern rock classics. What started as a fun way to loosen up in the studio has now turned into ‘South X South Dakota’, an 11-track covers album featuring the music of Skynyrd, Allman Brothers, Outlaws, Blackfoot, Molly Hatchet, .38 Special, Creedence and more, releasing worldwide April 24th on the HighVolMusic label.
